Virtual Parent Series for Prospective Families (PK–Grade 8)
Join us for a series of engaging Zoom sessions designed for prospective parents interested in learning more about Harborlight and our Montessori approach to education. Each session highlights a specific topic of interest. Attend one or all of the events.
Join us for an informal conversation focused on how social-emotional learning (SEL) is intentionally nurtured at Harborlight—both through the formal curriculum and in the daily rhythm of classroom life. Parents will hear from educators about the structured SEL programs we use, such as Open Circle and other peace education practices, that explicitly teach empathy, communication, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
We’ll also highlight the many strategies embedded in the Montessori environment that foster emotional intelligence and a strong sense of community—such as grace and courtesy lessons, collaborative problem-solving, classroom meetings, and peer mentorship in mixed-age groups.
The talk will conclude with an open Q&A session, giving parents the chance to ask questions, share reflections, and connect directly with educators about social-emotional learning at Harborlight.
