Let's Talk Harborlight - Executive Function

Virtual Parent Series for Prospective Families (PK–Grade 8)
Join us for a series of engaging Zoom sessions designed for prospective parents interested in learning more about Harborlight and our Montessori approach to education. Each session highlights a specific topic of interest. Attend one or all of the events.

Executive Function: Building Focus, Independence, & Purposeful Work

Join us for a conversation on how Montessori education nurtures the essential skills that form the foundation for lifelong learning — focus, organization, and self-regulation.
Explore how Harborlight lessons and individualized work plans guide students to develop sustained attention, concentration, and effective work habits. We’ll discuss how elements such as task orientation, time management, sequencing, and persistence are naturally cultivated through the structure and design of the classroom and lessons.
Learn how freedom of choice, coupled with responsibility, fosters intrinsic motivation and a genuine love of learning. Teachers will share examples of how children set personal goals, make thoughtful choices, and reflect on their progress — skills that strengthen executive functioning across all ages.
Ask questions and hear from classroom teachers about how these experiences look at different Montessori levels — from pre-k through middle school — and how they prepare children to manage themselves, their time, and their learning with increasing independence.

Format: Live Zoom session with Q&A
