Poems of Gratitude by Upper Elementary 2

Upper Elementary 2 is feeling grateful this holiday season, but don’t take my word for it.  Please enjoy these poems by our students:

“Gratitude”
by Avery

Gratitude is Mood 24 Golden.
Gratitude is purple.
Gratitude is a circle.
Gratitude is a flute.
Gratitude is the woods.
Gratitude is video games.
Gratitude is summer.
Gratitude is flowers.
Gratitude is soft.
Gratitude is cherry ice-cream.
Gratitude is cotton candy.
Gratitude is a cat.
Gratitude is pizza.

“Winter Gratitude”
by Christian

I’m thankful for
warm puppy fun time.
I’m thankful for
The white chocolate woods,
where Chewbacca roams.
He smells like lavender
and plays a soft saxophone tune.
Deep in the woods,
he owns an ice-cream shop
that is hexagonally- shaped
but no one ever goes because
arugula is the main flavor

“Love”
by Hazel

If gratitude were a sound, it would be
soothing, relaxing
Gratitude is
a sunset
If gratitude were a smell, it would be
Thanksgiving dinner
Gratitude is
A cuddly puppy
If gratitude were a food, it would be
All of my favorite meals
Gratitude is
A calm place in the forest with birds singing
If gratitude were an instrument, it would be
A harp
Gratitude is
A circle, a circle of life
If gratitude were a flavor of ice-cream, it would be
A mix of creamy vanilla and chocolate
Gratitude is
Soft, smooth
If gratitude grew in a garden, it would be
Full of lavender and pollen
Gratitude is
Fall

“Gratitude is...”
by anonymous UE student

If gratitude were an animal, it would be a loyal Golden Retriever.
Gratitude is as good as gold.
If gratitude were a smell, it would be Orange Vanilla.
If gratitude were a place in nature, it would be A Bliss Garden.
If gratitude were a food, it would be a Pumpkin Pie
Gratitude is as good as a Purple Tulip.
If gratitude were a texture, it would be a nice fluffy cat.
If gratitude would be a flavor of ice-cream, it would be Orange Creme Fruit Swirl.
If Gratitude is Spring.
If gratitude were a shape, it would be a pentagon.
If gratitude were an instrument, it would be a Koto.

Thankful Dreams

Gratitude is a relaxing song
Gratitude is blue like the sky
Gratitude is the smell of red roses
Gratitude is a golden retriever
Gratitude is a Thanksgiving dinner
Gratitude is the rainforest with lots of animals
Gratitude is a graceful song on the piano
Gratitude is a heart for love
Gratitude is soft and smooth
Gratitude is a pink lily
Gratitude is spring and fall
Gratitude is family
Gratitude is love
Gratitude is kindness

“Your Gratitude”
By Adam

Give your gratitude to the chirping of birds in the morning.
Give your gratitude to our blue and green Earth.
Give your gratitude to the smell of leftover stuffing from Thanksgiving.
Give your gratitude to our lush fields of tulips, roses, and dandelions Mother Nature provided us with.
Give your gratitude to the relaxing sound of a bamboo flute
Give your gratitude to the crashing of waves against the beach.
Give your gratitude to the taste of a fresh apple you just picked from a tree.
Last of all, give your gratitude to your family and friends that are there for you when they need you the most.
