Indigenous Peoples: Lower Elementary Experience Week

Lower Elementary students who participated in last week's Indigenous Peoples Experience Week explored the history, heritage, and culture of North American Indigenous peoples. They engaged in research, inquiry, study, and understanding with a focus on some of the more than 70 tribes within the United States and Canada. The week included a study of some of the collections of the Indian Rights Association archives and materials that sourced communication, organizational records, and documents. A cross-disciplinary approach to the week's study also provided an understanding of social justice and natural resources on Native American lands. The week's studies culminated in a fair with projects and presentations.
